Hid Saib
Saib takes his inspiration for his work from the stars and the prospect of undiscovered life of other planets. His work gives a ‘out of the world’ feel from the way he applies UV paint to his models. To create this feel through his work he highlights specific features of the face/body with paint which will be the main focus point of the image. Saib only photographs from the shoulders up which are usually close ups. To ensure the paints he uses on his models are enhanced as much as they can be, he uses a white background made of cloth so that his lighting choices will be bounced back to create different effects from the lights and paints. Saib also tries to portray emotions through the paints he uses on his models so that the collection he is creating has an ongoing theme other than the UV paints. Looking through his Neon project, he uses different camera techniques when shooting his models; these techniques include changing the depth of field and aperture to create different focuses and lighting. Due to the type images he produces, he prefers to keep any editing to a minimum. Most of his work is symetrical as this helps contribute to the feeling he wants his work to portray.

Image Analysis
This is one of my favourite images from Saibs work. The use of black light and UV paint is extremely effective in this image as it makes the image look like a painting, but in reality it's a photograph. All of his images in this series of work are abstract and unique. As a whole image, it looks busy, as though there is lots going on in the image, despite there only being one model in the image. The composition of the image is to the left, giving open space around the right side of the image. Due to the vibrant colours used in the image it draws the attention to the figure in the image. The use of vibrant colours and a black background contrast, making the model stand out. Saib outlined the subject to emphasize the shapes within the image. Although this image is busy, all the lines he has drawn are clean and don’t give the image a main focal point. The use of a black background works well in this image, as it does not distract the attention from the subject in the image.I like this photograph because it has an unusual concept and the use of the UV light and paint can be effective when used correctly. From this image, I feel like I could do something similar on a smaller scale. For example, only focus on the head of a model, instead from the waist up.
