Flowers

To create these images, I used a Macro lens for close ups with a sharp focus, the flowers I choosen to photograph, were already bight. However, since my theme is based around UV, I decided to apply flouresent paints to them. This then creates an alternative look to my images other than just having the plain flowers. I believe that my images where successful as they give me the disired affect I was looking for. Other things that were successful in this shoot was the composition of the flowers, the way I had placed them allowed me to take images from different angles which then made each individual image look different. Despite my artist research being based around portraits and not still life, I thought this was a good starting point for my project as it enabled me to undrstand what works well with the paints and how to set my camera up correctly for the best images. when using UV light, the images sometimes turn out under exposed (too light), to aviod this issue, I changed the ISO setting to a hire number so that the shutter speed was faster and let less light into the lens. Although this shoot was successful, somethings could of been improved for example, some of my images could have been focused more and maybe at the end of this shoot, I could of tried a little more experimentation. After this shoot, I have decided to move onto try UV with peoples hands like Sarah Leal has in her work.

Unlike the first set of images I created with flowers, these were taken in a photography studio. This was so I could use the studio lights as well as incorporating the Uv light to create subtle essence of UV. I found that this was very effective as it shows them in a different way than they would be seen if they where only taken with studio lighting. It highlights different areas of the image to show different perspectives of the flower. Overall, I think that these images were successful and impressive as they brought about the end result I wanted. If I were to do this again, I would try different ways of presenting the objects within the image. Another way this photoshoot could be improved is by trying to incorporate other objects into the image and using the images I take to include a theme/purpose. For example, using the UV lights as a way to show people that what the naked eye see's isnt only what there is to look at.
